Despite being embarrassed by her flaky parents, Madeline is dismayed to come home one day and find that they have been kidnapped. Possibly by… foxes?!

Several hills away Mr. and Mrs. Bunny are pleased to be settling into their new home when, on a whim, they decide to become detectives.

I found the story to be almost as flaky as the stereotypical hippie parents and it comes with a few references to hallucinations that seemed unnecessary.

Overall I think that this would have been a better story if it were aimed at younger kids exclusively. Instead it felt like it wasn’t quite sure what reader age level to aim for.
