Volunteer

THANK YOU FOR GETTING INVOLVED! YOUR SERVICE TO OUR STUDENTS MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR EDUCATION.

With Regard to Student Safety

Because we want our school community to feel safe and comfortable on our campuses, we have policies and guidelines that volunteers are asked to follow. Our district has established a procedure that adheres to Utah State law requiring school districts to screen prospective volunteers. All unsupervised volunteers need to complete a background check before serving in an unsupervised capacity. See “Unsupervised Volunteers” below for more details.

Volunteer Types

A Supervised Volunteer is:

Someone who volunteers with students under the strict supervision of district employees or someone who does not volunteer with students. Supervised volunteers must always be in the line of sight of a district employee and must never be alone with a student. Examples: volunteers in the classroom, front office/copy volunteers, committee volunteers, and volunteers who work under the direct supervision of district staff.

An Unsupervised Volunteer is:

Someone who volunteers with students and may not be in the line of sight of district employees at all times. This includes volunteers who chaperone field trips, tutor students, and coach students. Unsupervised volunteers must complete a background check through the school district prior to any volunteering. You can learn more about volunteer background checks under Frequently Asked Questions.

More Information

Volunteer Monitoring:

District volunteers can record their service hours from any of our kiosks. This allows the school district to monitor volunteers across all schools.

Volunteer Opportunities for Corporations and Non-Profit Groups:

Group volunteer opportunities occasionally come through large events, or sometimes through programs to tutor or read to students weekly. The foundation works with schools and volunteer groups to make these opportunities as successful as possible.
